Long, Long, Ago.
Some of the best loved tales are the myths and legends of Ancient Greece. The timeless tales of Ulysses, Hercules,
Jason and others are full of adventure, bravery and the fact that actions have consequences.
As with all our children's books these are designed to be an easy story for you to read aloud, but are also designed to be
simple enough for your children to read themselves.
Each story has a rhyme about the main character to add interest such as,
I WILL FIND THE FLEECE OF GOLD
AS I AM SO STRONG AND BOLD
Found in Jason and the Golden Fleece.
This adds interest and helps the children connect with the story. Get them to repeat it after you, and soon you will be both chanting them together.
There are also excellent language development ideas in the stories and important words come at the end of the chapter to talk about and explain.
Children love words that are grand and often find it easy to recognise them and learn their meaning. This helps both their oral and
written English immensely and it's also fun.
Words such as quest, tribute and perish are all here. There is also a list of the Gods and Goddesses.
